The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) officially launched its Customer Service Week 2025 on Monday, October 6, at the Wilberforce Officers’ Mess, marking a week-long initiative to provide essential social security services to the personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
Brigadier General M.M. Posowah, President of the Mess Committee and Commander of the 3 Infantry Brigade, welcomed attendees and underscored the importance of NASSIT in providing financial security to Sierra Leoneans, particularly in addressing challenges faced with pension management before its establishment. He expressed optimism for the future, noting the presence of experienced NASSIT officials, while acknowledging long-standing issues faced by military personnel and the opportunity this week provides to resolve them.

The week-long program, themed “Mission Possible,” aims to reinforce NASSIT’s commitment to customer satisfaction and accessibility. Highlighting the value of service and client engagement, speakers emphasized that the initiative recognizes both staff resilience and the essential role of customers in enabling NASSIT to fulfill its mandate.
Major General Sahr T. Ngaujah, representing the Chief of Defence Staff, officially launched the event. He commended NASSIT’s dedication to national responsibilities, including pensions and retirement benefits, and noted that the initiative brings vital services directly to the armed forces’ personnel. Recounting his experience as a battalion commander in 2017, Major General Ngaujah highlighted previous communication gaps regarding benefits and stressed that the week provides an opportunity for officers and men to clarify queries, update records, and engage with NASSIT officials directly.

Deputy Director General of NASSIT Mohamed Gondoe, reiterated the organization’s renewed commitment to service delivery under the “Mission Possible” theme, emphasizing the importance of accurate membership registration and record updates. He explained that NASSIT’s expanded coverage, under the 2001 Act, now encompasses the entire economically active population, providing protection against contingencies such as old age, invalidity, and death. The Deputy DG further highlighted ongoing initiatives, including an ICT upgrade and new web-based platforms, to ensure members can access services remotely.

Throughout the week, mobile NASSIT service centers are being established to bring services closer to RSLAF personnel. Key offerings include:

Instant replacement of lost NASSIT ID cards (with a Le10,000 waiver)
