The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, has called for strong leadership and collaboration among social security administrators globally.
Mr. Daboh made this call while sharing Sierra Leone’s experience at the Global Conference on Management and Innovation in Social Security, organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and hosted by the National Organisation for Social Insurance in Egypt from February 11 to 13, 2025.
During the three-day conference, Mr. Daboh highlighted the significant progress NASSIT has made under his leadership since his appointment by His Excellency Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio. He particularly emphasized improvements in operations and benefits processing.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by social security organizations, Mr. Daboh stressed the importance of ensuring that these institutions are well-structured and capable of delivering reliable services in an ever-changing environment.
He underscored the need for innovative approaches in social protection programs, given the growing demand for quick and accurate access to information and services.

Mr. Daboh also outlined his vision for NASSIT, including efforts to extend coverage to Sierra Leone’s informal sector.
“High-level meetings and consultations are currently underway to design an attractive scheme for our brothers and sisters in the informal economy, whose contributions are vital to the national development of the country,” he stated.

Highlighting NASSIT’s ICT transformation, Mr. Daboh noted that the adoption of new technologies will facilitate easier access to the scheme for members. He emphasized that effective management is crucial in this transformation and reiterated the need for stronger collaboration and leadership within social security institutions.
The conference, attended by over 400 participants, brought together senior leaders of social security institutions, experts from international organizations, policymakers, and managers.
It provided a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among leaders facing similar challenges.

A key takeaway from the conference was the recognition that social security institutions like NASSIT are undergoing fundamental changes driven by an evolving workforce and rapid digital advancements.
Innovation has become essential for enhancing performance, and leadership is increasingly focused on achieving excellence through change management, innovation, and human resource development.
