The Circuit Court of Maryland has dismissed the appeal filed by Mohamed Kutubu Koroma in the libel case involving prominent Sierra Leonean barrister and solicitor, Yada Hashim Williams (LL.M.).
The appeal, dated 28th July 2025, challenged the initial judgment of the District Court of Maryland on 23rd July 2025, which found all allegations made by Mr. Koroma against Williams to be false. The District Court had ordered Mr. Koroma to pay US$20,056 in damages for defamation.
The dismissal of the appeal on 23rd January 2026 reaffirms the previous ruling and underscores the importance of accountability in addressing defamatory actions. In a public statement, Williams emphasized his commitment to ensuring that the awarded damages are fully recovered.
“Individuals who engage in malicious attacks and defamation, including on social media platforms, must be held accountable regardless of their location,” Williams said. He added that the case highlights the significance of protecting one’s reputation and seeking justice in the face of unwarranted attacks.
Williams concluded by reaffirming his determination to pursue all necessary legal avenues against Mr. Koroma to recover the damages.
