In a recent critique, prominent opposition figure and former Anti-Corruption Commissioner Ady Macauley has condemned President Julius Maada Bio’s National Town Hall meeting, labeling it a “Tihun Family Court Barray Meeting” rather than a genuine public forum.
Macauley alleged that the town hall was a carefully orchestrated event where only pre-approved, supportive questions were allowed, dismissing it as a mere SLPP Paopa family event. He argued that the meeting failed to provide an authentic platform for public discourse.
For a true assessment of his administration’s performance, Macauley suggested President Bio should engage directly with the general populace in everyday settings, such as local markets and bustling streets like Abacha Street, Krootown Road, or Bottom Mango. Macauley believes these interactions would offer a clearer picture of public opinion and grievances.
Concluding his remarks, Macauley asserted, “The average Sierra Leonean is becoming more politically aware. We should not be treated as though we are uninformed or easily misled.”
