Prominent lawyer and politician Abdul Karim Kamara, popularly known as Lawyer A.K.K, has launched a sharp criticism of the government’s flagship Free Quality Education (FQE) Programme, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises.

Speaking during an appearance on Liberty TV’s online programme, Kamara dismissed the initiative as a “scam,” arguing that despite heavy publicity, it has not brought meaningful improvements to Sierra Leone’s education system.

He specifically questioned the credibility of recent public examination results celebrated under the FQE, describing them as “political passes” rather than genuine academic achievements.

According to him, the much-publicized policy has not addressed fundamental challenges such as poor teaching standards, weak learning outcomes, and inadequate school infrastructure. Instead, he claimed, the programme has been reduced to a propaganda tool for political gain.

“The children of Sierra Leone deserve an education system that truly empowers them with knowledge and skills,” Kamara stated. “What we have now are empty promises and manipulated results that do not reflect reality.”

His remarks add to growing public debate over the effectiveness of the Free Quality Education Programme, a flagship policy of the SLPP-led government that has been both praised for expanding access and criticized for its implementation challenges.
