Kono Council of Paramount Chief has expressed their dissatisfaction in a letter to the Kono SLPP District Chairman over the SLPP District Secretary over Violent Disruption of Traders Union Electoral Election in Kono District
On behalf of the Kono District Council of Paramount Chiefs, the said letter formerly register the Council’s dissatisfaction over the behavior of SHIEK ABUBAKARR KOROMA, the district secretary for the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Kono branch.
The dissatisfaction came against the backdrop on Friday 8 March 2024, the Sierra Leone Traders Union (SLeTU) was busy with the process of electing its district executive when an unfortunate incident occurred at the polling center.
According to the said letter Information gathered so far from representatives of both the district security sector and a staff member of the Election Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) is indicative of the fact that the electoral process was going on peacefully until Shiek Abubakarr Koroma, escorted by some unknown errant youths violently stormed the polling center and destroyed election materials that they could lay hands on.
According to said letter, the incident was captured in a video that is now making round in the social media.
“The letter described the act of violence with utter impunity perpetrated by Shick Abubakarr Koroma is unacceptable” the letter stated
The Paramount Chief Council believes that in as much it is an individual action displayed by Sheik Abubakarr Koroma, they encourage the chairman good office to delve into this matter with a view to take appropriate administrative action against your party member in question.
The Paramount Chief further request the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Tankoro Police Division to step up investigation into this matter and bring whosoever is found culpable to bear the consequences of his or her action.
