On Monday 10th July 2023, hundreds of Sierra Leoneans in Kenema District visited the newly appointed Commissioner General, National Revenue Authority (NRA), Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray at the Commissioner’s residence,
#30 Mohamed Fofana Street, kenema. An appointment many describe as *” a well-deserved appointment.”* During the jubilant visit, the Kenema City Mayor-elect, Thomas Baio expressed his admiration for Chief Brima Swarray highlighting his impressive professional qualifications coupled with a wealth of experiences that qualify him for the most revered office at NRA.
He extended his esteemed thanks and appreciation to H.E Dr. Julius Maada Bio for the appointment of Chief Brima Swarray as the Commissioner-General, NRA. His worship, Mayor Thomas Baio stated that the National Revenue Authority has been blessed with a result-oriented Commissioner-General.
A gentleman with so much passion to help President Bio succeeds.
He appealed to everyone to support the newly appointed Commissioner-General in the actualization of his vision for Revenue mobilization, calling on donor partners and taxpayers to continue supporting the vision of President Bio for a better Sierra Leone. Mayor Thomas Baio pledged his fullest support to the new NRA Commissioner General and the SLPP government under the leadership of President Bio.
He also commented on how Chief Brima Swarray rebranded the National Public Procurement Authority in less than two years, giving it a National facelift, and strongly believes that Chief Brima Swarray, with over 17years of experience in governance, will perform extremely well at NRA. Adding that, his robust fiscal discipline saved Sierra Leone trillions of Leones. “Before 2018, NPPA was a dead living institution. Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray transformed that Authority from a paper-based procurement to an Electronic Government procurement system.”
Mayor Thomas Baio and several senior stakeholders in Kenema extended thanks and appreciation to President Bio for blessing a son of the soil with another opportunity to serve the country. Stating that Chief Brima Swarray is a man of positive results and therefore, happily welcomes his appointment as Commissioner-General, NRA.
The Kenema District Council Chairman, Amoudu Mohammed ‘O’ Level Sesay extended his appreciation to President Bio for such an appointment and calls on all taxpayers to receive the Commissioner-General with open hands and collectively support his vision at the NRA. He stated that “Ibrahim Brima Swarray believes in consultation and will endeavor to work with all well-meaning players in the interest of Sierra Leone.”
The Commissioner General, Chief Brima Swarray is an economics guru, with a wealth of expertise in procurement and taxation, he’s a seasoned Public Management expert with a comfortable experience in all of these areas. Having worked at the United Bank for Africa(UBA) Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Sierra Leone Correctional Centre, National Public Procurement Authority Etc. Etc.
The appointment of Chief Brima Swaray as Commissioner General NRA greeted every quarter with jubilation, especially the grassroots supporters of SLPP, stakeholders, and well-wishers. Truly, Chief Brima Swarray is a man of the people.
He remains the one man behind the massive turnout of voters on pooling day in Kenema District and beyond. A fine gentleman who attached so much passion to ensuring the re-election of *President Bio.*
