For the fact that it has pleased President Julius Maada Bio to once again appoint Daniel Kaitibi, one of the illustrious sons of Moyamba to serve as Executive Director of Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (DSLMA), is a pointer to the fact that, President Bio still reposes whooping confidence in the man who helped shape and build the structures of the former NATCOM into the current NaTCA.
Mr. Kaitibi’s appointment on the day of the handing over of the Tripartite Committee Report to President Julius Maada Bio at State House on July 1, 2024 in Freetown. It happened almost immediately after news of the handing over of the report broke and moments later, news about the appointment of Daniel Kaitibi and several other deserving individuals by the President started floating on social media.
The joyous state Moyamba is finding itself after the 1st July, 2024 announcement is better imagined as Daniel Kaitibi is held in very high esteem by both young and old for being a son-of-the-soil who has never failed to impress his people by ensuring he does everything in his power to bring development to his community and to his people. His exploits at transforming Njala University to become the modern, credible and internationally-acclaimed institution it is today through his tremendous academic and other efforts at galvanizing national and international supportfor the aggressive and inclusive progress ofNjala University over the years is invaluable and indelible.
When the news broke, all Moyamba Descendants Associations and Forums across the globe spontaneously sprang into jubilation likened Kaitibi’s appointment as a master-stroke for Moyamba District. Attaya bases, community centres, communities scattered across Moyamba and in other parts of the country are in jubilation even as we went to press.
Meanwhile, in addition to developing and bringing respect to the Njala University, Daniel Kaitibi’s monumental achievements in turning around the crumbling state of the former NATCOM is a story that can be told over and again because it is music to the ears. His managerial skills, expert human relations and depth of knowledge in the technical aspects of telecommunications were all seen at play when he was at the helm of affairs at NATCOM, now NaTCA.
President Bio has once again appointed the technological savvy Daniel Kaitibi as the new Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA). With his technical know-how and ability to fix maladministration and recoup government losses, Daniel Kaitibi is the best bet and President Bio made no mistake in recruiting the services of the young and dynamic Daniel Kaitibi.
With his thirst for progress, he will no doubt hit the ground running at the SLMA where he would demonstrate as he did in his prior appointment that he isa result-oriented personality who championed a lot of initiatives that catapulted the former NATCOM now NaTCA to the enviable position it now occupies which is contributing immensely to bringing more sanity and income within the telecommunications landscape of this country.
Kaitibi will no doubt and in no time in his new capacity as Executive Director of SLMA prove that he is very instrumental when it comes to combating fraud, which for some years now has been plaquing the SLMA. To counter this menace, he will no doubt use his outstanding and brilliant suggestions and decisions to overhaul the SLMA which is fast falling apart and needs a surgeon like Daniel Kaitibi to give it much-needed lifeblood to revive this institution which is a potential money-making machine for this country.

Daniel BorborKaitibi is an illustrious personality, who has countlessly proven his mettle as an Information Communications Technology (ICT) guru .
He was on the first appointed on the 23 August 2018 by His Excellency, The President, Julius Maada to serve in the covetous position as Deputy Director General of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM). He was later appointed substantive Director General. During his tenure he initiated the process for the transformation of NATCOM as a commission into NaTCA an authority.
His initial footprints could be traced as far as Njala University where he commendably transformed the ICT Department to a high level that attracted the admiration of many near and far.His impact on hundreds of key government personalities and civil servants with regards impacting ICT skills and knowledge is far reaching, commendable and undoubtedly numerous to be listed.
Kaitibi has been rated as a highly positive and proactive professional very experienced in computing and Information Technology. He has a demonstrable success in analytical, interpersonal, organisational networking, partnership facilitation and prioritisation skills. He is also an experienced trainer, proficient communicator and team player capable of maintaining relationship at all levels.
Before that appointment, Daniel Kaitibi was Director of Studies- School of Technology and Head of Business Information Technology Programme at Njala University, a position he assumed since 2014. He is renowned for lecturing Under and Postgraduate students in Computer Science Distributed systems, Concurrent systems, Website Development, Telecom Management, Computer and Network Security, Network Administration and Management, Database Management Systems, Information Technology in Business, Multimedia Technologies, Systems Analysis, Management Information Systems; Project Management,Procurement Planning, Solicitation Management etc.
Kaitibi was head of the task force setup by the Minister of Energy, AlhajiKanja Sesay, to assess the persistent breakdown of meter payment system at EDSA.
He also served as Head of the Business Information Technology Programme in the Department of Physics and Computer Science responsible for the development of online applications and registration systems.
His previous responsibilities include but not limited to the following: IT Project Manager- Tiwai Memory Masters 2008- 2010; IT Technician – Remedy (Flextronics) and Crosscom Memphis TN, USA 2004 – 2007; He did his internship with FedEx Data Center –FedEx Services, Memphis, and University of North Florida, USA.
Daniel has extensive working knowledge of SQL; OSS Systems; Visual Studio; Nexus; MS; NET; Visio; Microsoft Server and other current soft and hardware packages.
Working as a Consultant, Daniel delivered his expertise for a wide range of local and international organisations including UNDP, DFID, National Council for Technical, Vocational and other Academic Awards (NCTVA) and served as Information Technology-Technical Expert for the ASSL/BDO-PKF project since April 2014.
With regards his educational achievements, Daniel Kaitibi is a Ph.D candidate in Health Information Systems, a partnership course between Njala University and the University of Illinois, United States. He also holds a Masters Degree in Information Systems and Management (MISM, 2007) from the Keller Graduate School, Naperville, Illinois. He obtained his Bachelor in Business Administration and Economics (Double Major 2005) from the University of Memphis, Tennessee in the United States.
Daniel Kaitibi has published widely and extensively in various academic and development outlets across the globe.
