The philanthropic deeds of the distinguished businessman and benefactor, Sheikh Alhaji Omodu Kamara, fondly referred to as Jagaban, shone brightly on Friday, the 29th of March 2024. On this day, he extended a generous donation of five hundred million old leones (equivalent to five hundred thousand new leones) to the United Council of Imams in Sierra Leone for their Iftar gatherings during the sacred period of Ramadan. This significant event unfolded at the illustrious premises of Jagaban on Malta Street, marking a remarkable demonstration of compassion and solidarity with the Islamic community.
Sulivan Kallon, the National Coordinator of the Jagaban Foundation in Sierra Leone, encapsulated the essence of Jagaban’s benevolence. He conveyed to the representatives of the United Council of Imams that Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara is driven by a profound belief in altruism. Sulivan emphasized that Jagaban’s act of reaching out to the Imams across the nation with this substantial donation for their Iftar meals during Ramadan underscores his commitment to supporting those who play pivotal roles in advancing the Islamic faith in Sierra Leone.
Abubakarr Baturay, the Vice Chairman of the Jagaban Movement, elucidated Jagaban’s unwavering reverence for Islam and his consistent practice of generosity throughout the nation. He ceremoniously presented a check for the donated amount to the executive members of the United Council of Imams, facilitating the seamless nationwide distribution of the funds.
In a spirit of deep gratitude, Sheik Mohamed Taslin Thomas, representing the National Executives of the United Council of Imams, expressed profound thanks to Alhaji Omodu Kamara for his monumental donation. He lauded the Jagaban Movement for its instrumental role in ensuring the success of this benevolent initiative. Sheik Thomas revealed that the donated funds would be transparently distributed among their extensive membership of 68,000 across the nation, ensuring that the noble intention behind the donation is fulfilled with integrity and sincerity.
Alhaji Mans Kanu, the General Secretary of the United Council of Imams, echoed words of deep gratitude on behalf of the National Executives to Jagaban for his exceptional generosity. He pledged that the Imams would continue to offer prayers for Jagaban, seeking divine blessings and guidance for his continuous acts of kindness and compassion.
