IPAM’s Banking and Finance Department Concludes Successful Inter-Class Debating Competition

The Department of Banking and Finance, under the Faculty of Accounting and Finance at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, has successfully concluded its annual Inter-Class Debating Competition.

The event, held on Thursday, 17th July 2025, on the 6th floor of the ET Building, brought together students, faculty members, and guests in a vibrant display of critical thinking, public speaking, and academic engagement.

The competition was described by many as a resounding success, offering students a valuable platform to enhance their communication and analytical skills through intellectually stimulating debates.

The Department expressed its deep appreciation to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of IPAM, Professor Miriam Conteh-Morgan, who graced the occasion with her presence and unwavering support for student-centered academic and extracurricular initiatives.

Recognition was also given to the Students’ Union Government for their continued dedication to student development and participation. Special thanks were extended to Madam Hafsatu Safiatu Kamara, President of the Association of Banking and Finance Students, and her executive members for their exceptional coordination efforts that ensured the smooth execution of the competition.

The department commended all participants for their commitment and intellectual rigor throughout the debates. The judges were equally praised for their fairness, insightful feedback, and contribution to upholding high standards in the competition.

Head of Department, Mr. Edward Thomas, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success and reiterated the department’s commitment to providing more enriching academic experiences in the future
