IPAM Hosts Hackathon to Develop Technology-Led Innovative Solutions and Boosts Entrepreneurship Culture among Students

The IPAM Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEEI) has announced the commencement of a two weeks hackathon program for developing ICT-led solutions/products. The event, scheduled to take place from July 8th to July 20th, 2024, at the IPAM Tower Hill Campus aims to empower students to develop ICT-led solutions and products. This event is in a bid to cultivate innovation and entrepreneurial mindset among its student body.

The Centre brings together tech enthusiasts for a two-week-long intensive learning, mentoring, hands-on training, and a challenge.

IPAM’s hackathon will provide participants an opportunity to delve into the realms of innovation and entrepreneurship. 

The hackathon commences with a comprehensive bootcamp training program encompassing both technical skills and business acumen, designed to equip participants with the necessary tools to ideate, prototype, and refine their innovations. Referred to as the “bootcamp” phase, this initial training will prepare students for the subsequent build stage, where they will collaborate intensively to develop their solutions.

Following the build stage, participants will showcase their projects on Demo Day, where they will present their solutions before a distinguished panel of judges and guests. This final phase not only serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their creations but will also provides an opportunity for valuable feedback and recognition.

“The hackathon represents a vital opportunity for IPAM students to harness their creativity and problem-solving skills in the realm of ICT innovation,” said a spokesperson for CEEI. “We believe this initiative will not only develop a culture of entrepreneurship within our student body but also contribute meaningfully to the technological landscape of Sierra Leone.”

The event is open to all IPAM students eager to explore their potential in the field of ICT and entrepreneurship. With the support of mentors and industry experts, participants are expected to tackle real-world challenges through innovative solutions, ultimately driving positive impact and transformation.
