A delegation of 20 prominent Indian businessmen is currently visiting Sierra Leone to explore potential investment opportunities, a visit inspired by Deputy Mines Minister Umaru Napoleon Koroma’s impactful presentation at the 3B Investment Summit held in India on October 15, 2024.
The delegation, led by Dr. Opesh, expressed deep appreciation for Minister Koroma’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing Sierra Leone’s interests in all discussions and negotiations.
“We are grateful to Minister Umaru Napoleon Koroma and the government of President Julius Maada Bio for creating an enabling environment for foreign investors to contribute to Sierra Leone’s economic growth,” Dr. Opesh stated during the visit.
Their first stop was at the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, where the investors engaged in productive discussions with ministry officials.
The delegation was subsequently hosted at the National Minerals Agency (NMA), where they received detailed briefings on Sierra Leone’s rich mineral potential.
Officials from the Precious Minerals Trading Directorate advised the investors on the importance of collaborating with legitimate authorities to avoid fraud and ensure compliance with the country’s regulatory framework.
Deputy Minister Koroma’s presentation in India has been lauded for its emphasis on fostering transparent and mutually beneficial partnerships. His efforts have bolstered international confidence in Sierra Leone as an emerging hub for investment, particularly in the mining sector.
This visit underscores the growing interest in Sierra Leone’s vast natural resources and reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging foreign investment to stimulate economic development and create sustainable opportunities for its people.
