In Kenema & Kailahun Districts… NPPA Boss Donates Over 500 Bags Of Rice To Muslims

Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray, Chief Executive of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) and his family has donated assorted food items and cash to Muslims in Kenema and Kailahun districts.

The donation started on Saturday 16th April- 2022, and ended on Sunday 17th April 2022.

The exercise rolled out to Kenema and its environs  targeting the Regional Central Masjid East, Nicole Street, Bambawo Lane, Yopoi Street, Kpetema New Masjid, Mohamed Fofanah Street, Nyedeyama Old Town, Cow Yard, Simbeck, Hangha, Niahun Buima, Ngelehun, Largo, Kormoru,  Bambawo to name but few in Kenema District and in Kailahun District capturing Jaluahun and Jah chiefdoms respectively.

The donation is part of the usual Ramadan gesture that is extended to various masjids during the Holy Month of Ramadan by Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray and his family. The process has been observed over the past five years.

The entire process was met with great joy from the recipients as they described the gesture as timely and worth receiving.

The recipients further expressed their profound gratitude to the NPPA boss and his family.

Congregational prayers were also offered by various masjids in Kenema and Kailahun districts. 

Chief Swarray has always put a smile on the faces of Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The assorted food items donated were worth over Le100,000,000 (one hundred million Leones.)

Delivering the donations on behalf of his family, the team lead who doubles as the mother of the NPPA Boss, Mama Haja Mary Betty Sandy, on behalf of her family delivered the items to the various beneficiaries. 

“We know that these times are tough on everyone. However, Allaah (SWT) has the answer because He has told us that charity increases ones sustainability” she said.

Madam Sandy maintained that Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray is among the lead and humble performers in President Bio’s service delivery charter.

She affirmed that every single good deed of Chief Swarray is geared towards complementing the New Direction Government led by the Republic-centered President H.E Bio.

Madam Haja Mary Sandy, reemphasized that the Holy Month of Ramadan is a special period when Muslims from all over the world fast from dawn to dusk as an obligatory act prescribed by the Islamic faith. “Ramadan is the time when charitable assistance is given and blissfully accepted. 

Because of these benefits of the Holy Month, Mr. Swarray and family want Muslims to continue praying for the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio and his entire appointees to successfully deliver Sierra Leone to the Promised Land”, she reaffirmed.

Similar statements were given by Mrs. Fatmata Swarray, wife of Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray. 

Receiving the Ramadan gifts, the Acting Chief Imam of the Kenema Central Mosque Alhaji Konneh thanked Chief Swarray and his family for the donation. 

He said Allah is the only King that would reward a giver in the Month of Ramadan. He called on other beneficiaries to holistically ask on Allah to increase the might of the giver.

Mrs. Fatmata Swarray extended similar gesture in Segbwema and its environs on behalf of her family.

Items donated to various masjids in Kailahun District included bags of rice, sugar and some cash.

‘Zakat’ is one of the key pillars of being a Muslim and refers to a set of percentage of one’s income that is put aside to give to those in need- traditionally, 2.5 percent of income must be given away in a lunar year.

The beneficiaries blesses Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray and his family.
