Ibrahim Karim Bangura, Jenifer Fatmata Bangura and Julius Morie break personal best in Commonwealth Games

Sierra Leone Ibrahim Karim Bangura breaks his own 100m personal best in the Commonwealth Games. Ibrahim crossed the finish line in 10.51 seconds-a new personal best breaking his previous record of 10.55 seconds. 

He finished in 5th position in heat 10 while his compatriots Julius Morie who finished in heat 8 also break his personal best as he crossed the finished line in 10.88 seconds. His previous record was 10.91 seconds as they both failed to qualify to the quarter final. 

Speaking to the Owlsports, Ibrahim Karim Bangura said he is delighted breaking his personal best. He said: โ€œI am delighted breaking my personal time though my expectation was to qualify to the quarter final but it is what it is;โ€ he said  

He pointed out that lack of creational facilities is key factor responsible for their poor performance in the Games and previous championships. He said: โ€œWe need creational facilities to enable us to perform as expectedโ€. He appealed.

In the 100 metres heats, Hafsatu Kamara failed to improve on her personal as she crossed the finished line in 11.80 seconds while Jenifer Fatmata Bangura breaks her personal record in 12.00 seconds. Her previous record was 12.66 seconds.
