Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has publicly refuted claims that he is backing any aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer position in the 2028 elections.
In a strongly worded statement, Koroma distanced himself from endorsing any candidate and expressed his dissatisfaction with certain individuals within the party.
In a leaked audio conversation with a veteran APC member, Koroma specifically criticized Dr. Samura Kamara, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2018 and 2023 elections.
He described Kamara as “unreliable and selfish,” accusing him of orchestrating social media attacks against him. Koroma alleged that Kamara has been using his loyalists—many of whom have become prominent bloggers—to spread negative narratives about him online.
The former president, who has been residing in Nigeria, also revealed his desire to return home and resume a normal life, signaling his intent to step away from active political maneuvering.
His remarks have sparked discussions within APC circles, highlighting ongoing divisions as the party looks ahead to the 2028 elections.
