High Commissioner Bundu Presents Letter of Credence to Kenya President

Her Excellency Isatu Aminata Bundu has today 9th June, 2021 presented credentials to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta as the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Kenya. The ceremony took place at the State House in Nairobi, Kenya and she was accompanied by all the Diplomatic Staff of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Kenya. The optics of the Programme were serene, colourful and excellent.

In presenting her credentials, High Commissioner Bundu conveyed President Bio’s regards and warmest wishes to President Kenyatta and the People of Kenya, and assured him of the effective continuation of the bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Kenya. In her presentation, she said:

“ Please allow me to extend to , the Government and the People of the Republic of Kenya fraternal greetings and warm wishes from His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio… l am greatly honored Your Excellency to be my country’s envoy to your great country after the demise of my predecessor His Excellency Peter J. Francis. It is my earnest hope that I shall succeed in my endeavors to further strengthen the relations that exist between our two countries”

“ Your Excellency, the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Sierra Leone collaborate on multifaceted global and continental issues which include the Committee of Ten( C 10) Africa Heads of State on the reform of the United Nations Security Council and the Africa Peer Review Mechanism among others”

High Commissioner Bundu also recognized the recent happenings and development that are on course between Sierra Leone and Kenya.; on that note she said:“ …the recent agreements between the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone in the establishment of Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC); Memoranda of Understanding on Defense Cooperation; the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and the Statistics Sierra Leonean sharing of tablets within the South- South Cooperation to enable Sierra Leone undertake its Mid-Term Housing and Population Census; the willingness to establish wildlife sanctuary in Sierra Leone and to train Rangers; Visa Exemption and in the area of Education… have gone long way in cementing the already existing cordial and bilateral relations of our two countries in various sectors of our economies”

Furthermore, the new High Commissioner extolled President Bio for establishing High Commission in Kenya and as well praised President Kenyatta and the People of Kenya for their exceptional hospitality and effectively fanning the cooperation between the two countries.

In that regard, the High Commissioner Bundu said:

“ It now gives the honour to present to… you my Credentials by which His Excecllecy Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone has appointed me to be the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Kenya “

Responding to the Sierra Leone High Commissioner, President Kenyatta sends his greetings to the Government and People of Sierra Leone and extended his sympathy for the demise of the late High Commissioner. The President also said that he would look forward to strengthening the already existing Bilateral Relations between the two sister countries and to further establish new areas of cooperation.

Her Excellency Isatu Aminata Bundu is the first female High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Kenya, this clearly highlights President Bio’s commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality and the socio-economic and political development of Sierra Leone.She is a British trained entrepreneur with a BSc. in Psychology from Coventry University in United Kingdom (UK),Master  Degree in International Relations from Brunel University and other post graduate certificates in Project Management from Chartered Institute for Information Technology in the UK.

Her Excellency Isatu Bundu is also accredited to United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN- Habitat, the Republic of Uganda, the Republic of Rwanda, United Republic of  Tanzania, Republic of Somalia, Republic of South Sudan, Republic of Burundi, Republic of Angola and Republic of Malawi.
