In the afternoon hours of Tuesday 16 April, fire displaced over 50 people and destroyed properties worth millions of Leones in Kroobay slum community.

According to the Former Councilor of the Community Murray Alie Conteh 33 houses were burnt down.

In a viral Social Media Post, the Former Councilor states “I was saddened by the fire disaster that occured this morning at Spain, Kroobay Community. 33 Households were affected and left them homeless , this is pathetic for our Community members in a difficult time like this .Please take heart God will surely make ways . As your former representative please accept my words of courage and put your hope in God,”
Some of the affected groups are children lactating mothers and Children are second largest affected group/
Some of the affected victims are head of households, pupils who returned to school this April.

Among numerous challenges victims have to deal with, access to shelter during the next month rains and more importantly Food and money parents kept for the upkeep of their families have been destroyed in the fire.

At the initial assessment of the disaster, it is clear that the recovery process will be an uphill struggle for these vulnerable groups.
