Female in Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture launched its first history making “Home Garden Competition”, with the theme “My Garden My Life. This project is launched to support food security and uplift food subsidies.
The competition’s aim is also to support women and teach girls/boys with skills to provide nutritious food for their families, and to start vegetable and community gardens across the 16 districts of Sierra Leone.
The NaHGa challenge is an initiative of Female in Sierra Leone targeting over five hundred participants across the country through a fair play competition among Sierra Leoneans.
With the aim of providing food security through home gardens and complementing the government’s agenda to provide sustainable food production and healthy food for all Sierra Leoneans.
The winners will take away cash prizes and also receive capacity building on effective home garden development, management and also crown the winners as home garden ambassadors for Sierra Leone.
The event will run from the 1st August to October 2020.
