The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL has announced key dates for the conduct of Paramount Chieftaincy Election in Pujehun and Kenema District respectively.
The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) informed the public that pursuant to section 39 (1) of The Constitution of Sierra Leone, 1991 (Act no 6 of 1991) it has received a notification letter from the office of the Clerk of Parliament. Notifying the Commission about vacancies in the PCMP seats for Pujehun and Kenema districts respectively.
This according to said the letter of notification is as a result of the sudden death of PCMP PC Boima Victor Sidee Kebbie 111 of Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun district which sad event took place on Sunday 14th August 2023 at his residence, and, PCMP PC Foday Steven Kpakra-Faba of Dodo Chiefdom, Kenema district which sad event took place on Monday 23rd October 2023.
In exercise, therefore, of the powers conferred on it as the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone by Sections 33, 72, and 74(1)(a) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone, 1991 (Act No.6 of 1991); and pursuant to Sections 68 and 98 of the Public Elections Act, 2022 (Act No. 17 of 2022) and Sections 28 and 10 of the Paramount Chieftaincy Act, 2009 (Act No. 10 of 2009), the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone he declares the following:
- Date for Nomination of Candidates for the PCMP Bye-Elections 20th to 21″ March 2024.
- Polling and Counting 20th April 2024
