Hot on the heels of his second national team call-up, youngster Saidu M. Bangura fondly called ‘Jones’ is hoping for a further breakthrough in the senior national team.
Jones made his first national team call-up for the U-20 side following the Zonal Afcon 2023 qualifiers in Mauritania
Jones said: “I need to work extremely hard as I have a bright future and that I deserve to be in the national team,” said Jones.
“I was very happy to get the call-up at this early age of my career. I have so far learned a lot and I think I need to walk taller, but strive to work even harder,” he said.
He said it has been a big challenge training with experienced and internationally exposed players and that he will continue working hard to perfectly fit in the national team set up.
“For now, I am getting the true feeling of being in the team, but I need to continue working hard,” he said.
Sierra Leone U-23 men’s national team will face Zambia in the second round of the 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Sierra Leone play host to Junior Chipolopolo in the first leg on Saturday in Montovia, Liberia and second a week later in Lusaka, ZambiaWinner of the fixture will face the overall winners of the second-round tie.
