In a move to modernize road infrastructure management in Sierra Leone, the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) has engaged the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) in a high-level meeting aimed at forging a strategic technology-driven partnership.

Led by DSTI’s Director and Chief Operating Officer, Jasper Patrick Sembie, the delegation was warmly received by SLRA’s Director General, Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu, alongside senior technical staff and department heads. The dialogue, held at SLRA’s headquarters, focused on exploring areas where technology can enhance the Authority’s efficiency and impact.

At the core of the discussions was the development of bespoke digital systems that would transform SLRA’s operations—from project planning and implementation to data management and real-time decision-making. The proposed innovations are expected to improve transparency, streamline workflows, and strengthen the overall management of road infrastructure projects.

“This engagement aligns with our broader mandate to support government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in delivering smarter, more efficient public services,” said Jasper Patrick Sembie. “Our collaboration with SLRA has the potential to redefine how public infrastructure is developed and maintained in Sierra Leone.”

SLRA’s Director General, Ing. Momodu, welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism about the role of technology in solving persistent challenges in road infrastructure planning and execution.

Both institutions expressed their intention to formalize the partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the coming weeks, setting the stage for a long-term collaboration aimed at leveraging innovation to advance national development goals.
