The Board Chair, National Revenue Authority of Sierra Leone, Dr. Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara (Nee- Jabbi) is a proud recipient of the 11th Edition of the African Achievers Awards for her unprecedented “Excellence in Public Service” which holds great promise for female leadership across Africa. Under her distinguished leadership, the country’s National Revenue Authority continues to register consistent record breaking revenue generation which engineer’s efficient service delivery for the citizens. Her innovative strive has also seen the Authority make tremendous progress in digitalized revenue mobilization.
Launched in 2010, the African Achievers Awards is one of Africa’s most prestigious awarding bodies which recognizes and celebrates African trailblazers and leaders of industries, whose works are having significant impact on building the Africa of our dreams.
The awards ceremony will hold at the Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom on the 10th December, 2021.
Dr. Tuma is a towering and renowned legal luminary in Sierra Leone with experience spanning over 10 years in the legal profession. She is also the Sierra Leone Bar Association representative at the Council of Legal Education, the body responsible for Legal education in Sierra Leone; and lectures Revenue Law at the Law Department of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone- a course she helped pioneer and has written extensively on.
She holds an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree (LL.D.) and a Master Class Certificate in Business Management and Leadership from the Commonwealth University and London Graduate School; a Master of Law Degree (LLM) in Corporate and Business Law from the University of Central England in Birmingham and a certificate and Diploma in same; a Bachelor of Law Degree from De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom; and Barrister at Law (BL) from the Sierra Leone Law School. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of York in the United Kingdom.
Recently reelected for a second term, Dr. Tuma is the current Vice President of the World’s largest Tax Administration Mechanism, The Belt and Road Tax Administration Corporation Mechanism (BRITACOM) with headquarters in Beijing- China.
Her exemplary leadership has attracted national, continental and global attention and acclaim. The Institution was recently recognized as Best Performing Revenue Institution in Africa by the Africa Business Report. At the National Achievement Awards in 2019, the institution won Best Public Sector Institution of the year. She has also personally gained several recognitions, including the 50 Most Influential Sierra Leonean Women- which she won in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
Dr. Tuma is an avid entrepreneur, a strong advocate for human and economic rights, and a very passionate community development champion. She is also the current Chairperson of the Kamboi Eagles Football Club- a leading Premier League football club in Sierra Leone.
She is happily married to Mr. Mohamed Gento-Kamara and blessed with with beautiful and lovely kids.
