Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr Moinina David Sengeh, has donated NLe120,000 ($5,000) towards the centenary celebrations of his alma mater, Prince of Wales Secondary School.
Dr. Sengeh, who served as Head Boy of the school’s Class of 2003, pledged to continue his support as the celebrations progress.
The Prince of Wales Secondary School marked its 100th anniversary in grand style with a colourful float parade that brought together generations of alumni, students, and supporters to celebrate a century of academic excellence and community impact.
The event saw enthusiastic participants from across Freetown assembling at two major points: alumni and well-wishers from the eastern part of the city gathered at the historic Eastern Police Clock Tower, while those from the western districts convened at Lumley Roundabout.
The two groups later converged in a spectacular display of unity and school pride, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the institution.Dr. Sengeh’s generous contribution is a manifestation of his commitment to supporting education and facilitating the growth of his former school.
Addressing fellow alumni and students, he reaffirmed his dedication to giving back and encouraged others to contribute towards the school’s continued success.
With the centenary celebrations unfolding, more activities and initiatives are expected to commemorate this landmark achievement, ensuring that the legacy of Prince of Wales Secondary School remains strong for future generations.
