In a major development for the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Bai Mahmoud Bangura, has been acquitted of all charges stemming from his alleged involvement in the failed coup attempt on November 26, 2023.

Bai Mahmoud Writes;

On this historic day, I bring you my humble greetings, not merely as your National Organizing Secretary, but as your humble servant who has endured an intense eleven months of investigation and legal scrutiny regarding the November 26th, 2023, failed coup d’état.

The High Court of Sierra Leone presided over by the Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has vindicated me of all charges against me, reaffirming our fundamental belief in justice and the rule of law.

I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you all for your staunch support during my ordeal, and I do so with immense gratitude.

This experience has not only tested my resolve but also illuminated the strength of our party. It has underscored the importance of our unity, resilience, and solidarity. With that, I encourage everyone to reflect on the values that bind us as members of the APC: peace, unity, reconciliation, and respect for one another.

These principles are not mere words; but the foundation upon which we must build our future.In the spirit of moving forward, I want to assure everyone that I bear no grudge against anyone, as I have sincerely accepted the will of the Almighty Allah, and I urge you all to do the same.

As we move forward, let us rekindle the spirit of oneness that has always defined our party. The challenges we face are significant, but we can transform adversity into opportunity together. We must remain committed to our core values and work tirelessly to uplift our party, ensuring that the voices of our supporters and sympathisers are heard and respected.

My special thanks and appreciation to our National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, Deputy National Chairman Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, all other party officials from National to Ward Executives, my Lawyers, Africanus Sorie Sesay Esq and other members of our indomitable Legal Team, Members of Parliament, Councillors, Mayors and Chairpersons of councils, the media team and all party organs and affiliate groups, my family and other notable patriotic citizens for your leadership, prayers, support and unalloyed belief in my innocence.

Your patience and persistent belief in justice and truth have vindicated me and further reinforced our collective mission. Let us harness this momentum to foster a culture of hope and courage within our ranks.

As we look to the future, let us resolve to win as a family. We are stronger together, and it is through our collective efforts that we will achieve the greatness we aspire to.

I encourage you all to stand firm in your commitment to the APC and each other. Together, we can forge a path of progress and prosperity for our nation. With deepest gratitude and optimism
