The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially extended invitations to two prominent Sierra Leonean journalists to attend the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on October 22, 2024.

This prestigious event, to be held at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, will gather football stakeholders from across the continent to discuss critical issues impacting the sport in Africa.

Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura, a former Commissioner of the Independent Media Commission and CEO/Publisher of The Owl Newspaper, along with Joseph S. Jida Kiz-Kamara, Station Manager of Eagle Africa Radio and Media Officer for the National Sports Authority (NSA), have been selected to represent Sierra Leone at this influential gathering.

Their accreditation was approved following the successful completion of the CAF media portal registration process.

The invitation, facilitated by Isha Johansen, Sierra Leone’s former FA President, aims to enhance the exposure of Sierra Leonean journalists to international sporting platforms, that will enable them to gain valuable insights into how such assemblies are conducted, equipping them to report constructively on key developments.

By cascading this knowledge, they will help transform the landscape of sports governance in Sierra Leone, particularly in how local general assemblies are organized and managed.

As part of CAF’s commitment to ensuring smooth media coverage, all accredited international journalists will benefit from a Visa Upon Arrival policy in Ethiopia.

Upon arrival at Ethiopian airports, the journalists will be able to present their accreditation letters and valid identification to obtain their visas.

This streamlined process highlights CAF’s dedication to facilitating the participation of media professionals at the event.

The participation of Bangura and Kiz-Kamara is seen as a significant step in broadening the scope of Sierra Leonean sports journalism, fostering greater international collaboration, and promoting a more structured and transparent approach to sports governance in the country.

Their presence at the assembly is expected to provide valuable perspectives that could positively influence the local sports scene and contribute to reducing challenges associated with organizing sporting events in Sierra Leone.
