In what political observers are calling a game-changing moment for the All People’s Congress (APC) party, top 2028 flagbearer aspirant Ady Macauley made a thunderous entrance into Gbakeh Loko Chiefdom in Port Loko District, securing the overwhelming support of the party’s district, constituency, and ward executives on the 23rd May, 2025.
Arriving at the Bai Bureh Hall at the morning hours, the former Anti-Corruption Commissioner was welcomed by party faithful stakeholders and political bigwigs in the region. The program, which began with both Christian and Muslim prayers, featured key APC representatives.
High-profile figures such as Deputy Mayor Madam Aminata Bangura, District Mayor Zackaria Bangura, Regional Organizing Secretary Abu Bakarr Conteh (aka Box), and District Chairman Mr. Alie Suma graced the event, signalling the significance of Macauley’s visit.
In a powerful and unifying address, District Chairman Alie Suma reaffirmed that Port Loko remains a united front, loyal to the APC first and foremost. He debunked any rumours suggesting the district had endorsed a particular flagbearer and stressed that when the time comes, Port Loko will collectively decide its direction as they are taking notes. He praised Ady Macauley as a key asset of the party and issued a stern reminder that the APC is not for sale—urging delegates to think critically and vote wisely.
When Ady Macauley took the stage, his message was firm, fiery, and deeply personal. Emphasizing his Port Loko roots through his grandmother, a proud Susu woman, Macauley declared his intention to lead both the APC and Sierra Leone into a new era of radical transformation.
He laid out his credentials, citing his past service to the party, especially his role in establishing the Legal Aid Board during his tenure at the Anti-Corruption Commission. Macauley made it clear that competence, courage, and consistency will be key in taking on the ruling SLPP, declaring, “This is not a time for politics as usual. This is a time for radical readiness.”
Macauley challenged the crowd to interrogate all aspirants: “Don’t ask what they promise to do—ask what they have done for the APC.” His call to action was met with thunderous applause.
Deputy Mayor Aminata Bangura, delivering a strong gender-focused message, called on Macauley to champion women’s empowerment. She boldly demanded a shift from the traditional 30% quota to a more ambitious 40%–50% representation for women, asserting that women should no longer settle for deputy positions when they are fully capable of leading.
In a striking show of solidarity, many ward and constituency executives openly declared their support for Macauley before the close of the event, sending a clear message that Port Loko stands firmly behind Ady Macauley as the frontrunner for the APC flagbearer position in 2028.
Political analysts say this show of strength in Port Loko—one of APC’s most strategic strongholds—could be the turning point in the flagbearer race.
As the 2028 elections draw nearer, one thing is certain: Ady Macauley is not just in the race—he’s leading it.
