One of the biggest mobile network company in the country Orange-SL, has on Thursday 7th July 2022, distributed over Le.250 million (Le.250.000) to the winners of the Miss Orange Makit Uman 2022, as well as a sizeable donation to the women and markets that participated. This epic event took place at the Orange-SL headquarters at IMATT in Freetown.
The product communications manager Martha Sumaila, acknowledged the tremendous effort and support given to them by the market women. She affirmed that they were welcomed with open arms by the market women and that has created a room filled with emotions in the mobile company.
The winner of the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant 2022, took home Le.50 million (Le.50.000) and the 1strunner up was given Le.30 million (le.30.000), whilst the 2nd runner up took home Le.20 million (le.20.000). In addition, all the participants were given le.5 million each and another 5 million for their various markets they have represented.
She affirmed that the show was conducted in three separate folds in order to find the winner of the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant 2022. The criteria for the winner was covered by; 50% of the voting, 30% was covered by stage performance, and the remaining 30% was covered by sim distribution by the contestants.
Madam Martha Sumaila underscored that marker women have been left out in Sierra Leonean community, and the motive behind the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant is to assure market women in Sierra Leone that they too have a voice in society. She affirmed that it is also a move to give women the platform to showcase their talents and be part of the entertainment industry in the country.
She mentioned that this is not the end, but rather it is the beginning of great things to come for market women in Sierra Leone. She went on to say that Orange-SL has already laid plans to take the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant to the regions and a lot of creativity will be added to make the next show much more better than this.
Fatu R. Kamara of Aberdeen market was given the sum of Le.50M (le.50.000) after she emerged as the winner of the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant 2022. She thanked Orange-SL for the kind gesture and for giving her and other market women a voice in society. She affirmed that the money won will be utilized for a positive purpose that will benefit her and others as well.
She also won another le.50 million for her market. She asked Orange-SL to use the Le.50 million to conduct a project that will transform the Aberdeen market for it to be more comfortable. She recommended that the project should include the provision of water supply and the pavement of the entire market.
The event climaxed with the distribution of checks by the Orange-SL acting marketing manager to the winners and contestants of the Miss Orange Makit Uman pageant 2022.
