A senior figure in the All People’s Congress (APC) Publicity Secretariat, Comrade Minkailu Koroma, has strongly criticized the proposed Governance of Inclusion Bill, which is being advanced by President Julius Maada Bio’s government. The legislation, aimed at introducing a power-sharing arrangement, is expected to be presented in Parliament soon and has already provoked sharp political debate.

Speaking in an interview on SLIK TV, Koroma accused the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) of attempting to undermine democratic principles under the guise of inclusivity. He argued that the bill reflects the SLPP’s fear of losing the next elections, adding that it would further weaken citizen representation already affected by the current Proportional Representation system.

“This proposal erodes the people’s voice. If representation is already watered down in Parliament, extending it to the presidency will only make things worse,” Koroma said.

He further warned that institutionalizing coalition-style governance could create instability and weaken accountability. According to him, Sierra Leone requires strong, decisive leadership rather than “a diluted system that blurs responsibility.”

Koroma also questioned the timing of the proposal, describing it as a last-minute attempt by the SLPP to secure political survival. “If inclusivity was their genuine intention, they would have pursued these reforms earlier in their tenure, not on the eve of elections,” he remarked.

As the bill awaits formal presentation, its introduction continues to polarize opinions. For critics like the APC, it represents a threat to democracy and accountability, while the SLPP may frame it as a step toward inclusivity and stability in governance.
