The All People’s Congress (APC) Independent Elections Complaint Board (IECB) has issued a public notice reminding party members and the general public that all internal election-related disputes must be handled through the Party’s established mechanisms.
In a statement released on 17 December, 2025, the IECB expressed concern that some internal matters have recently been taken to external bodies, even when they were not related to elections. The Board warned that such actions undermine the Party’s democratic structures and create a false impression that the APC cannot manage its own administrative or procedural issues.
The notice cited Article 43 of the 2022 APC Constitution, which establishes the IECB and mandates it to “determine disputes which may arise relating to an internal Party election or the election procedure.” The Board emphasized that under Chapter 5 of the Constitution, all internal elections must be conducted in a “free, fair, and transparent manner… in accordance with approved election rules and regulations,” and that disputes arising from these elections must be resolved by the IECB.
The IECB clarified that members have the constitutional right to challenge voter registers or nomination lists, but such objections must be submitted to the Board within the stipulated timeframe. Decisions made by the IECB are final, aimed at maintaining fairness, preventing confusion, and protecting the Party’s credibility.
As the APC prepares for upcoming lower-level elections, the IECB urged all members to channel grievances, queries, or disputes directly to the Board or the appropriate internal Party structures. The Committee stressed that it is composed of individuals with experience, legal competence, and neutrality, and is fully prepared to adjudicate matters fairly and promptly.
The IECB concluded by appealing to members to respect the Constitution, protect the integrity of the electoral process, and allow the Party’s structures to function as intended.
