The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has summoned an emergency meeting of its National Advisory Committee (NAC) amid the continued detention of its National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya.
According to a notice issued by the party’s Acting Chairman, Ambassador O. F. Yansaneh, the emergency NAC meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow. The meeting is expected to bring together all sitting Members of Parliament, Mayors, Chairpersons, Councillors, District Chairmen, and Regional Chairmen.
The party said the meeting has been convened to deliberate on what it described as the “continuous arrest and detention” of its National Secretary General and to determine a strong course of action in response to the situation.APC officials expressed dissatisfaction over proceedings in court today, alleging that Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya was taken away without prior notice to the party’s legal team and without a formal adjournment of the matter in court.
The party views the development as a breach of due process and a sign of what it considers unfair treatment.Describing itself as a major political force and a government-in-waiting ahead of the 2028 general elections, the APC maintained that it would not accept what it termed as actions aimed at undermining its leadership and internal operations.
The outcome of the emergency NAC meeting is expected to shape the party’s next steps as tensions continue to rise over the detention of its senior official.
