The National Union of APC Students (NUAS), in a Press Release dated 6th November 2022, has disassociated itself from the Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) and its leader Alfred Peter Conteh. This robust statement came days after the Interim Transitional Governance Committee leader Alfred Peter Conteh, signed a press release dated 4th November 2022, that the membership of all current NUAS members have expired and that a new executive body will be initiated.
ALL PEOPLES CONGRESS (APC) NATIONAL UNION OF APC STUDENTS (NUAS)
PRESS RELEASE
6th November 2022
The attention of the leadership of the National Union of APC Students (NUAS) has been drawn to a Press Notice dated 4th. November 2022, signed by Alfred Peter Conteh, purportedly on behalf of the ITGC, erroneously claiming the mandate of various NUAS Executives has expired and that the ITGC had SELECTED Momoh L.M. Flee as “Caretaker President2, who would subsequently APPOINT caretaker executives across campuses. The Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) has categorically dissociated itself from such a decision.
The membership of NUAS is aware that the ITGC is transient creation of the High Court of Sierra Leone with the sole mandate to transition the APC Party to its new leadership democratically.
Therefore, the Union, takes great exception to such despotic and reckless attempts by Alfred Peter Conteh to not only interfere with student affairs in the Party but to deliberately undermine the democratic spirit of the APC 2022 Constitution and continue to promote discord within the Party. At an emergency meeting dated 6th November 2022, the membership of the Union resolved that:
- The general membership of NUAS disregard Alfred Peter Conteh’s press release dated 4th November 2022 and any subsequent appointment or selection within the NUAS
- NUAS will NOT acknowledge or cooperate with any directives from the ITGC made by less than 11 members of the Committee as constituted on the 13th. May 2022.
- Comrade Ibrahim Bai Tarawally remains the recognised President of NUAS until duedemocratic process are strictly followed in the conduct of NUAS transition elections.
- NUAS membership in all campuses across the country will resist any attempt to imposeanyone on their leadership structures.
- NUAS remains under the direct supervision of the APC National Young Congress, which already has a representative in the ITGC.
NUAS thus urge Alfred Peter Conteh to focus on implementing the directives of the PPRC, particularly now that the Party has less than 55 days to complete its lower-level elections.

In the same vein, comrade Momoh Flee is advised to disregard such appointment or will be considered as part of those working with Alfred Peter Conteh to derail the progress of the APC Party and shall be treated as such.
Long live NUAS
