The All People’s Congress (APC) National Youth Congress officially kicks off today in Bo City, drawing thousands of young delegates, party loyalists, and supporters from across Sierra Leone and the diaspora.
This highly anticipated political gathering, organized by the APC National Youth Congress Executive in collaboration with the Legitimate Council of APC Media Bloggers and the Visionary Friends (VF), is expected to be a landmark event in the party’s ongoing efforts to energize its youth base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Held at the scenic Galliness Paradise, the conference is scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon daily under the theme: “Stronger Together: Uniting Youths to Build a Victorious APC.” The theme reflects the party’s commitment to strengthening youth engagement, fostering unity, and building a solid foundation for national leadership.
In a show of strategic outreach, the choice of Bo—a traditional stronghold of the ruling SLPP—as the host city is being hailed as a bold move by the APC to reinforce its national appeal and break barriers of regionalism.
“This is more than a gathering—it is a powerful message that the APC belongs to all Sierra Leoneans,” said one of the event organizers. “We are showing the nation that our strength lies in inclusion, not division.
”The Visionary Friends, an affiliate body within the APC, has played a vital role in mobilizing participation and promoting the event nationwide. Operating under their slogan, “Thinking Ahead, Moving Forward—with One Mind, One Focus,” the group has been at the forefront of championing youth inclusivity and democratic reform within party structures.
APC National Youth Congress Chairman Ansu Barnard has received wide commendation for his dynamic leadership, particularly his efforts to bridge the generational divide within the party. Under his tenure, the youth wing has grown more assertive and visionary in contributing to the party’s strategic direction.
“The youth have told the leadership of the APC that they are ready—not just to support—but to lead,” said a young delegate on arrival in Bo.
“This conference is a bold step in that direction.”In a joint statement, the Visionary Friends reiterated their commitment to the democratic values and unity of the APC, declaring,
“We remain resilient until our democracy is restored.”As final preparations wrap up, Bo City is brimming with energy and anticipation. The city’s vibrant streets are witnessing an influx of red-clad delegates, banners, and chants signaling a renewed sense of purpose within the APC’s youthful ranks.
Political observers note that the outcome and momentum generated from this conference could prove pivotal for the APC’s rebuilding process as it charts its course towards 2028.
With eyes fixed on Bo, today’s kick-off marks more than just a conference—it is a symbol of a reawakening youth force determined to shape the future of one of Sierra Leone’s oldest political institutions.
