The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed Hon. Mohamed Papa Bangura, Member of Parliament representing the All People’s Congress (APC), to the Board of the Men’s Premier League for the 2025/26 season.

Hon. Bangura brings to the role a wealth of experience from both football administration and sports journalism. He previously served as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) Northern Region, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), and Secretary General of Bombali-based Wusum Stars FC. He is currently the Vice Chairman of Wusum Stars and also sits on Parliament’s Committee on Sport.

His appointment places him alongside Osman Tommy (Chairman), Johndee Dissa, and Brima Turay on the Premier League Board. The SLFA has also indicated that three representatives from different clubs will later join the board, in line with its rotational policy designed to foster inclusivity and transparency.

Commenting on the appointments, the SLFA extended best wishes to all members of both the men’s and women’s league boards, stressing that their leadership will be key to ensuring the smooth operation and growth of Sierra Leone’s top-flight competitions.

Hon. Bangura’s appointment is seen as both recognition of his longstanding contribution to the sport and a boost to football governance, as Sierra Leone continues to strengthen its domestic leagues.
