Hon. Lahai Marah, Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Falaba District, has spoken publicly following his arrest and subsequent release by police on Sunday, 16 November 2025.
According to Hon. Marah, he was stopped at the last checkpoint from Kabala while traveling to Makeni and arrested by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) for Mongo Division along with four other fully equipped police officers. He was held in custody for nearly five hours.
“Through the intervention of the APC Party Leadership and Hon. Chericoco, I was released unconditionally after nearly five hours under police custody… Praise Allah am alive,” Hon. Marah stated.
Hon. Marah is a prominent political figure in Falaba District, having previously served as the Member of Parliament for Constituency 042. Following the April 2023 general elections, he stepped down from his parliamentary role to focus exclusively on his responsibilities as APC District Chairman.
The arrest of a high-profile political leader such as Hon. Marah has drawn attention from party members and political observers alike, highlighting ongoing tensions and the need for careful adherence to law enforcement procedures. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the reasons for his detention.
