The All People’s Congress (APC) has announced an emergency meeting involving key party officials to deliberate on recent developments surrounding the proposed appointment of Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
In a public notice issued by the party, the APC called on Members of its National Advisory Committee (NAC), Regional and District Chairmen, Members of Parliament, Mayors, Chairpersons, and Councillors across the country to attend the meeting.
According to the notice, the emergency session will provide a platform for party stakeholders to discuss the implications of the proposed appointment and agree on resolutions arising from the deliberations.
The National Advisory Committee is also expected to convene immediately after the broader meeting to consider and approve agreed resolutions. In addition, the NAC will review and approve the appointment of new members to the Independent Elections Complaints Board (IECB) to replace those described as delinquent in attending meetings.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the APC Party Headquarters, We Yone Building, Old Railway Line, Freetown.
The party emphasized that attendance is mandatory, describing the meeting as one of critical national and institutional importance.
