The National Secretariat of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced a new date for its forthcoming Ward Elections following a high-level engagement between the Party Leadership and the Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC).
In a public notice issued after a constructive meeting held on Saturday, 14th February 2026, the Secretariat confirmed that the Ward Elections will now be conducted nationwide on Saturday, 21st February 2026.
According to the notice, the decision was reached in good faith and in the best interest of the Party. The adjustment in schedule is intended to provide the IEMC with adequate time to complete the training of its personnel and finalize all necessary logistical arrangements ahead of the polls.
The additional time will also facilitate the early deployment of election officials across the country to ensure that the Ward Elections commence and proceed smoothly.
The Party Leadership emphasized that the move is aimed at guaranteeing a peaceful, transparent, and well-organized internal electoral process, in line with the APC’s commitment to strengthening its internal democratic structures.
The Secretariat expressed appreciation to the Party’s membership for their continued loyalty, patience, and unwavering support during the process. It also thanked stakeholders for the trust reposed in the leadership as efforts continue to address challenges and consolidate unity within the Party.
Members, aspirants, and supporters have been encouraged to remain calm, united, and steadfast in upholding the spirit of comradeship that defines the APC, as preparations intensify for the rescheduled Ward Elections.
