Andrew Keili, the nominee for Chairman of the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA), has voiced strong criticisms regarding the organization’s current condition. In a recent press briefing following his presentation before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments on August 5, Keili outlined the severe deficiencies within EDSA and emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive reforms.
Keili described EDSA’s present state as untenable, noting that substantial changes are required to revitalize the sector. He underscored the necessity for a government framework to guide policy, while he and his proposed board would focus on enhancing oversight in administrative, fiduciary, and governance areas.
Addressing inquiries about his appointment, Keili expressed uncertainty about the committee’s final decision but reaffirmed his dedication to his ongoing writing projects, including his column “Ponder My Thoughts.
“With a robust background in the electricity sector, including recent consultancy roles in the MCC initiative and Sierra Leone’s energy policy, Keili is confident that his expertise will be crucial in tackling EDSA’s issues.
