A high-level delegation from the American High School in Guinea visited the (Save Africa From Malaria Infection) SAFMI Headquarters on Monday, January 26, 2026, to learn about the Gambusia fish program and its role in malaria prevention.
The delegation was welcomed by SAFMI Country Director, Alhaji Dauda Bangura, who, on behalf of CEO Artem Volchenko, led a tour of the facility. During the visit, Alhaji Bangura provided an in-depth briefing on the Gambusia fish, explaining its history in Europe and its significant contribution to malaria control efforts. He highlighted how the initiative has been adapted for Africa, helping communities reduce malaria transmission through natural mosquito control.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Maurice Traore expressed appreciation to the SAFMI team and specifically to Alhaji Bangura for the warm reception and informative tour. Traore also proposed extending the Gambusia fish program to Guinea, expressing a desire for the American High School to become the first educational institution in the country to adopt the initiative.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mussa, who expressed appreciation to the SAFMI team for hosting the delegation and providing insights on the Gambusia fish.

The visit underscores SAFMI’s commitment to regional collaboration and the promotion of innovative, sustainable solutions in the fight against malaria across West Africa.
