Alusune Joseph Mansaray, a respected sports journalist from AfriRadio Sierra Leone, has been laid to rest on Friday July 26th after a fatal road accident.
The incident occurred as he was returning home from work.
Alusine, known affectionately as “Emperor Breezy,” was celebrated for his passion for sports journalism. He had been an integral part of the AfriRadio team for many years, where his exceptional reporting skills and engaging news stories made him a respected journalist.
The Sierra Leone Reporters Union (SLRU) officially announced the heartbreaking news, expressing their deep sorrow over the loss of their esteemed colleague. The accident took place on Wilkinson Road in Freetown, and Alusine was pronounced dead at Life Care Hospital on the morning of Thursday, 25th July 2024.
At the time of his passing, Alusine was the producer of AfriRadio’s Current Affairs program “Yus Rawn Salone,” as well as an entertainment and sports reporter. His passion for journalism was evident to all who worked with him, and his contributions to the media fraternity will be missed.
SLRU, AfriRadio, and the entire media community are mourning this great loss. The union expressed its heartfelt condolences to Alusine’s family, friends, and colleagues. “Our hearts go out to them during this difficult time,” the statement read. “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The funeral service for Alusine Joseph Mansaray will be held on Friday, 26th July 2024, at the Sorie Town Mosque in Gloucester Village (First Bridge). The media fraternity, along with friends and family, will gather to pay their final respects to a man who left an indelible mark on journalism in Sierra Leone.
