Prominent Lawyer and strongman of the APC Ady Macauley, legal counsel for former presidential candidate Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, has formally addressed the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) regarding its recent summons to his client.

In a letter directed to Assistant Inspector General R.P.G. Roberts, Director of Crime Services, Macauley outlined concerns over procedural transparency and requested clarity on the grounds for Kamara’s invitation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to the correspondence, police authorities reportedly attempted to contact Dr. Kamara multiple times by phone earlier this week but were unsuccessful. A subsequent verbal invitation was issued for the politician to appear at the CID headquarters by 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

However, Macauley noted that the SLP failed to disclose the purpose of the summons during these communications.

Mr Macauley confirmed his continued representation of Dr. Kamara and clarified that his client had been unreachable due to urgent family circumstances. “Dr. Kamara is currently in the provinces attending to his ailing mother, who requires immediate medical attention,” Macauley stated, emphasizing the family’s prioritization of the health emergency.

Asserting the need for due process, Macauley called on the SLP to issue a formal written notice explicitly detailing the reasons for summoning Dr. Kamara.

Macauley’s office has reiterated its commitment to resolving the matter through proper channels, pending receipt of the SLP’s official correspondence.
