The Ady Macauley Movement has joined the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day, paying tribute to the resilience, courage, and significant contributions of Sierra Leonean women both at home and in the diaspora.

In a statement issued on 8 March 2026, the Movement, led by All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant Ady Macauley, acknowledged the vital role women continue to play in shaping families, communities, and national institutions. The message highlighted that Sierra Leonean women, whether within the country or representing the nation abroad, remain instrumental in uplifting society and driving positive change despite numerous challenges.

The statement emphasized that women’s strength and determination have been key to strengthening communities and inspiring progress across different sectors of society. It further noted that women continue to serve as pillars of support for families while contributing meaningfully to national development.

The Movement also extended a message of solidarity to women who may be going through difficult moments, making special reference to Zainab Sheriff. According to the statement, her situation reflects the emotional and social burdens many women carry, particularly mothers and caregivers, and serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and support for women facing personal challenges.

The Ady Macauley Movement concluded by honouring the endurance, leadership, and unwavering spirit of Sierra Leonean women everywhere, expressing hope that International Women’s Day will continue to inspire unity, dignity, and progress for women across the country and the world.
