Bo City is poised to take centre stage in Sierra Leone’s political calendar as it prepares to host the much-anticipated All People’s Congress (APC) National Youth Congress Conference, drawing the attention of party loyalists and national figures alike.
Among the key highlights of the event is the scheduled attendance of prominent APC stalwart, Ady Macauley, whose presence is expected to ignite youthful enthusiasm and sharpen the focus on strategic party renewal.
Organised by the APC National Youth Congress Executive in collaboration with the Legitimate Council of APC Media Bloggers and the Visionary Friends (VF), the conference is set to commence at Galliness Paradise in Bo, with activities kicking off at 12:00 noon daily.
Themed “Stronger Together: Uniting Youths to Build a Victorious APC,” the event is expected to attract thousands of young delegates, party supporters, and political observers from across the country and the diaspora.
Ady Macauley’s decision to attend the congress has been hailed by party insiders as a powerful signal of the APC’s growing focus on youth engagement, unity, and forward-thinking leadership.
A respected legal mind and influential voice within the party, Macauley’s participation is being seen as an endorsement of the youth wing’s efforts to take a leading role in shaping the APC’s future.“This is a moment of great significance for us,” noted one senior youth organiser.
“Having someone of MaCauley’s calibre among us sends a clear message that the youth matter—and that our voices are being heard.”The Visionary Friends, a key youth mobilising arm within the party, have been instrumental in galvanising grassroots support.
Their slogan—“Thinking Ahead, Moving Forward—with One Mind, One Focus”—has resonated deeply among the base, especially as the APC seeks to position itself as a party for all Sierra Leoneans, regardless of region or tribe.Bo City’s selection as the venue has also been praised as a strategic gesture aimed at reinforcing national cohesion.
According to conference stakeholders, it is a deliberate step to demonstrate that the APC is committed to bridging political divides and fostering inclusivity.“This isn’t just a political event—it’s a demonstration of intent. It’s about breaking barriers and proving that we’re united by a shared vision for Sierra Leone,” said one member of the Legitimate Council of APC Media Bloggers.
Chairman Ansu Barnard, head of the APC National Youth Congress Executive, continues to receive accolades for his leadership. Under his watch, the youth structures of the APC have grown in influence and visibility.
He is credited with nurturing a culture of participation, where young members are not just spectators but active architects of the party’s direction.“The energy is palpable,” said a youth delegate from the north. “We are no longer asking for space—we’re creating it.
The congress is our platform, and with leaders like Barnard and the support of visionaries like Ady MaCauley, we are charting a new course.”In a statement ahead of the conference, the Visionary Friends reiterated their dedication to democratic values and party unity.
“We remain resilient until our democracy is restored,” the group affirmed, highlighting their long-standing commitment to meaningful political reform.Bo City is gearing up for the arrival of hundreds of APC supporters, and the atmosphere is charged with anticipation.
Hotels are filling up, transport routes are busy, and the city is bracing itself for what many are calling a defining moment in the APC’s rebuilding phase.Political observers suggest that the youth congress may serve as a springboard for the party’s renewed drive toward the 2028 general elections.
With the likes of Ady Macauley joining hands with the younger generation, the message is clear: the APC is looking ahead—with unity, energy, and purpose.
