The United State Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Madam Maria Brewer has yesterday 8 February 2021 during the Gud Morning Salone programme aired by Radio Democracy 98.1FM said the United States of America will continue to support institutions of democracy in Africa.
Speaking on the issue of corruption she said it should be a fight for all.
” We certainly encourage them to do more in the Anti-Corruption crusade. We can only really judge the Anti-Corruption measures when they turn the focus inward and not just at the previous administration. You really have to consider: are you truly committed or is it just a way to punish the old guys,” she iterated.
She called on the ACC to act independently and focus inwardly not only targeting the past regime.
This call by the US Ambassador has opened the ongoing debate on the issues of corruption in Sierra Leone which many have said has been selective and a witch-hunt of members of the opposition.
