Youths of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party across the world are more than ready to support the APC return to power in 2023.
This hope and strength was manifested yesterday when the APC UK Youth League Publicity Secretary who is also one of the most vibrant Youth League members, Mr. Mustapha Conteh, popularly known as Port Loko Borbor in the United Kingdom, stormed the APC headquarters in Freetown to donate and assure his comrades in the National Youth League in Sierra Leone of their unflinching support and cooperation at all times to ensure that the party returns to power in 2023.
Mr. Mustapha Conteh was received by the Proactive President of the National Youth League, Mr. Bai Mahmoud Bangura together with their Secretary General, the executive and membership of the NYL.
Presenting his good gesture to the League, Mr. Mustapha Conteh, aka Port Loko Borbor, firstly extended fraternal greetings from the UK membership under the leadership of Mustapha Hamid Koroma to the party leadership, especially the Chairman and leader, former president Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and the entire APC party for their relentless efforts to keep the party alive at a time like this when the world is facing challenges with the global pandemic (Covid-19).
“I am also encouraged by the courage and strength thus far demonstrated by our party leaders, the structures established and comrades in these moments of adversity. I want to assure you all that we shall overcome and there is victory always for us in the struggles of the APC. I implore all of us to close ranks and be united for the good of this great party. The tests that we are going through today will be a testimony that will enhance the wellbeing of our Great Party,” the UK Youth PRO asserted.
He continued, “surely, I am positive and optimistic we will together joyfully and lustily sing our cherished victory song come 2023.”
Handing over the items, the young comrade affirmed, “today, I am demonstrating my love, loyalty and solidarity to you my peers and by extension to the party by donating the following items to the APC party: 30 bags of rice and 10 bags of onions.”
Receiving the items, Mr. Bai Mahmoud Bangura, the APC Youth League President said he is more than delighted to receive one of his comrades from the Diaspora at such a trying time in the history of the party and assured all of victory in 2023.
He said during the Ebola outbreak they received many support from APC members in the Diaspora that gave them hope, that the support they received from the Diaspora is great, appreciated and always forthcoming.
The Youth League President thanked Mr. Mustapha Conteh for his intervention stating that although the donation is to the Youth League, it would be translated into other areas in the party.
Bai Mamoud Bangura continued that they are embarrassed and intimidated by the current government and highlighted other issues in the country like the public state of health emergency, hostile political climate, economic embarrassment and low business activities.
He maintained that the APC would continue to remain strong, that the donation would be translated to numbers, unity, solidarity and winning of votes in 2023 and affirmed that they would continue to look up to the Diaspora members for more support underscoring that the APC is the better option to transform Sierra Leone.
According to Bai Mamoud Bangura, the donation would go a long way in the minds of other comrades, assured that they are working assiduously to win the next elections inspite of the challenges, hostile political situation and economic pandemic that is affecting all aspects of life in the country.
In a very firm voice the Youth League President asserted that the donation would be interpreted to hope, winning and victory reiterating that they would do all humanly possible to make supporters in the Diaspora proud even in opposition and make APC the party that people should be associated with.
Singing of the APC victory song and distribution of the items climaxed the event.
The programme was chaired by the Secretary General of the APC National Youth League Alie Conteh while the vote of thanks was delivered by Fatima Sesay .
