As he Invites all to King George’s Home… BOLLORE BOOSTS THE AGED

The Country Manager of Bollore Transport and Logistics ,Capt. Fabjanko Kokan, has used  the occasion of the  presentation of food and non-food items to the Management of the King George’s Home for Aged to invite meaningful countrymen and women to rise to the occasion and fix the current challenges faced by residents in the Home.

The Croatian born Manager made that clarion call on Monday 21st September,2020 at the King George’s Home for the Aged within the Grafton community, in the outskirts of the Freetown.

Capt. Kokan warned against the discrimination of the aged by both individuals and Government.

He noted that man by nature is expected to grow old and die and that there’s no existing vaccine to against old age.

The call came as he was responding to a long list of challenges highlighted by the Home’s Welfare Officer, MD Brendaforde Farmer.

Captain Fabjanko Kokan said Bollore alone cannot solve the problems of the Home but could imagine if 365 individuals or companies choose just a day in the year to help the Home then there would be no challenges as highlighted.

MD Brendaforde Farmer, in her welcome address, told her Bollore audience how the Home is  surviving  by chance.

She said the Home is sub-vented by the Government  of Sierra Leone but receiving same when needed is a huge challenge.

She explained how the partial fencing of the Home has continued to expose both residents and staff to different security threats and abuses.

Mrs Brendaforde Farmer disclosed that since their relocation to Grafton they only had electricity supply in March and that access to clean drinking water remains their biggest challenge.

Explaining what informed the donation and the choice of the Home, Freetown Terminal IT analyst, who also doubles as the Marathon Day Coordinator, Darrell Coker, said the company staff across the globe run an annual 5K marathon and each staff contributes to a global basket which after accumulation is directed to charity through organisations working in the same respect.

At country level ,Mr. Coker continued, the office will identify a vulnerable and or a destitute community to share their love and passion, hence, why the Home came under consideration for support.

The occasion was climaxed by singing and dancing by both the visiting donors and the aged residents.
