The Church of the Lord (Prayer Fellowship) Worldwide is set to host its 17th General Assembly in Sierra Leone from November 9 to 16, 2026, bringing together church leaders, members and delegates from its various provinces across the world.
The assembly, which will be held at the church’s headquarters in Freetown, will be hosted by the Sierra Leone Province under the theme, “Marvelous God,” drawn from Exodus 34:10.
Sierra Leone holds historical significance for the church as its first mission field. According to the church, Adejobi established the foundation of what later became the Sierra Leone Province in 1947, beginning with a small prayer group.
The church traces its origins to 1930, when it reportedly started with just 10 people in Ogere, Nigeria. From those humble beginnings, it has grown into an international religious organisation with millions of members worldwide.
Over the years, the Sierra Leone Province has expanded its presence across the country, establishing branches in Bo, Moyamba, Kenema, Kono, Kailahun, Makeni, Kambia and Lungi, alongside several congregations within Freetown.
The 17th General Assembly is expected to bring together representatives from Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Europe, America and the Oceanic region, united under the spiritual leadership of His Holiness, Pope Dr. Rufus Okikiola Ositelu I.
The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for worship, fellowship and spiritual engagement among members from different parts of the world, while highlighting the church’s historical roots and continued growth in Sierra Leone.
The event also places Sierra Leone at the centre of the church’s global activities, as the country that first received its missionary outreach prepares to welcome delegates from across its international network.
