The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), led by its Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio, has humbled the Office of the President with a narrow 1–0 victory in the ongoing Inter-Ministerial, Departments and Agencies (Inter-MDA) Football Tournament.

The thrilling Group E encounter, played at the National Stadium Practicing Field, was decided in the 84th minute when Umar Mansaray rose highest to head home a well-delivered corner kick, securing all three points for the Ports and Harbours Authority.

With both teams locked in a tense battle and the match seemingly heading towards a goalless draw, SLPHA seized its opportunity late in the game. Mansaray’s decisive header sparked celebrations among the SLPHA contingent, leaving the Office of the President with little time to respond.

The victory highlighted the determination and teamwork of the SLPHA side, which remained disciplined throughout the encounter before delivering the decisive blow in the closing stages.

Leading the Ports and Harbours Authority team was its Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio, who also served as captain, providing leadership as his team secured the important Group E victory.

The result adds momentum to SLPHA’s campaign in the Inter-MDA Football Tournament, as staff members continue to demonstrate their sporting spirit and competitive drive beyond the workplace.

Attention now shifts to Thursday, 29 October 2026, when SLPHA will face the Ministry of Health in its next fixture as the competition continues.

Full-time result: SLPHA 1–0 Office of the President.
