The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and First Vice-President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A, Babadi Kamara, represented the regional football body at the Guinea Football Federation’s elective congress held in Conakry on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

The closely contested election ended peacefully, with Mamadi Doumbouya emerging victorious after securing 21 votes to become the president-elect of the Guinea Football Federation.

Antonio Souaré finished second with 18 votes, while Ibrahim Kalil Kaba came third with 13 votes. Haidara finished fourth without receiving any votes.

Kamara’s presence at the elective congress reflected WAFU-A’s engagement with member associations and the importance of cooperation among national football governing bodies across the West African region.

As First Vice-President of WAFU-A, his participation also highlighted Sierra Leone’s representation within the regional football leadership structure and its involvement in efforts to promote football development and strengthen institutional relationships among member associations.

Doumbouya’s victory marks a significant development in Guinea’s football administration, with attention now turning to the leadership and direction of the federation under his presidency.

The participation of WAFU-A representatives in national football association elections forms part of broader regional engagement aimed at supporting cooperation, good governance and the continued development of football across West Africa.
