PrimeNet SL Limited, in partnership with SLEEK-IPAM, University of Sierra Leone, has hosted the PrimeNet AI Coding Challenge 2026, Vibe Coding Edition, bringing together students, young people, entrepreneurs, technology professionals and creatives for a programme focused on artificial intelligence, coding and digital innovation.
The event was held at the IPAM-CEEI Hub in Freetown, where participants explored emerging technologies and practical approaches to coding and the application of artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the programme, Pa Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura highlighted the importance of the SLEEK project and encouraged students to take advantage of opportunities that can strengthen their entrepreneurial and technological skills.
He urged young people to actively participate in technology-driven initiatives, noting that such platforms can help them develop practical skills and turn innovative ideas into opportunities.
Acting Head of Department Madam Blossom Decker stressed the importance of providing students with practical learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.
She commended the organisers for bringing students and professionals together within the technology and innovation sector and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained to their academic, entrepreneurial and professional development.
Delivering the keynote address, Jasper Patrick Sembie, Director and Chief Operating Officer at the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), Office of the President, spoke on the growing role of technology, artificial intelligence and innovation in shaping the future.
Sembie emphasised the need for young people to acquire relevant digital skills and participate actively in Sierra Leone’s technology and innovation sector.
The challenge also featured contributions from technology professionals, entrepreneurs and innovation leaders, who shared practical knowledge and insights with participants.
According to the organisers, the initiative is intended to provide young people with opportunities to learn, experiment and develop technology-driven solutions while building skills needed to participate in the digital economy.
The programme also brought together the private sector and educational institutions around efforts to promote technology, entrepreneurship and innovation among young people in Sierra Leone.
