The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has successfully concluded a three-week CAF D Diploma Coaching Course at its headquarters in Freetown, as part of efforts to strengthen coaching education and grassroots football development in the country.

The programme brought together 40 participants who completed 60 hours of intensive technical, theoretical, and practical training designed to equip aspiring coaches with the necessary skills to develop young players at the grassroots level.

The course was facilitated by SLFA Technical Director John Keister and included a one-week internship attachment with Sierra Leone Premier League clubs, allowing participants to gain practical coaching experience within professional football environments.

During the training, participants were introduced to modern coaching methods, player development techniques, leadership, ethics, and professionalism, combining classroom lessons with hands-on practical sessions.

The completion of the programme marks the second CAF D Diploma Coaching Course organised under the leadership of SLFA President Babadi Kamara, highlighting the Association’s continued investment in improving coaching capacity nationwide.

The SLFA’s coaching education programme is set to continue with the Second Module of the Second Batch of the CAF C Diploma Coaching Course, while preparations are underway for the CAF B Diploma Coaching Course scheduled for October. Another CAF D Diploma Coaching Course will also be organised to provide more aspiring coaches with opportunities to gain recognised coaching qualifications.

The Association congratulated all participants for successfully completing the course and reaffirmed its commitment to developing qualified coaches capable of nurturing the next generation of football talent in Sierra Leone.
